    Breaking Bureaucracy
Have you ever thought that your unconventional way of viewing the workplace tends to create cold sweat down the back of your boss? That is if he is a bureaucrat - a custodian of the status quo! It’s not really old fashioned shoes or light green krimpilene trousers that make your boss’s management style so outdated. It is his closed mindset, which passionately resists change and obsessively treasures policies and procedures. This is fertile breeding ground for complacency and killing creativity in a team!Achieving results are not at the top of the list for your boss. Whipping up a whirlwind of rules and regulations is. He embraces the company’s policy at the expense of everything else. Getting things done with speed and a high sense of urgency doesn’t even make it onto his list. He will rather unleash report-writing mediocrity. Knowingly or unknowingly, he is an expert in causing obstruction. Your boss is a proper and self-respected ambassador for “rules” and “red tape”. Today’s accomplishments are not that important, but years and decades with the organisation are incredibly admirable from his poi

    2. Write and re-write your description of your site many times to make sure it fits the search terms they will use. The description goes into the html code used by the web designer, but the text should go also into the opening paragraph at the top of page one, because this is what Google uses. The Night Worker
In the process of musing about our perennially awake world for my Social Psych blog, I started to think about our present work world and how its operations have changed the lives of millions of workers.I manage a 24/7 emergency crew (mental health). We handle callers from early evening until 7 AM, plus weekends and holidays. During the course of the night, we talk to hundreds of people from all walks of life. Until a few years ago (except for intermittent wartime production requirements), the people who worked through the night were limited to emergency services (police, fire, hospitals), the telephone company, a few booming manufacturing plants, and the military. Now we expect to order items, day or night, by telephone. We demand that support services for all our transactions be available 24/7.How do night workers cope? For some, night work is a blessing, freeing up daytime hours for childcare or school. For those with limited skills and reduced income potential, moonlighting at night is a chance to earn a decent income. But night workers also pay a price: they never get quite as much sle
Most vacation rental property owners use outside designers to run their website. This is often expensive and there is no way in which they can pay enough money to have their site properly promoted by an outsider. It is a layout of love for the owner to do in the off season months.

Question for you. If your site is designed by an outsider do you know how to examine their work to see if it is any good? Tip, you can go to View on the top toolbar of your browser, and drop down to Source click on it, and you'll find the html code for your web page. THat's the first place I look on a web site, to see the title, the description and the keywords.

This piece has been written with the holiday home owners in Scotland in mind. But it can apply to any vacation rental owner, hotel owner, bed and breakfast owner, even caravan park and camp site owner.

Your site gets many hundreds of visitors, thousands, each year. The vast majority are not prospects, they just clicked on it out of passing interest, and a lot of the “visitors” are the search engines finding your site regularly each week.

We get probably about 3,000 genuine visitors to our site out of total 20,000 or more site visitors each year. So why don’t more of them book? Sometimes we are booked for the date they want, but most of them book with someone else. We lose their vote somewhere along the way. Yet we have one of the most successful vacation rental web sites in the country.

We’ve got to get them to vote for our site four times when they search. How, is the question.

The 1st vote is for the “description” of our site on page one of Google (or any other search engine but Google is overwhelmingly the most important). The “description” also carries our site name, our “url”

Our url is www.bayviewkentallen.co.uk and it is a poor one. If we were doing it all again we would have registered a better url name such as www.lochsidecottagescotland.com This might have helped us get up to page 1 or 2 of a bigger search term such as “Scotland”.

Litigation in China for Foreign Investors
The People’s CourtsChinese courts rely on a legal system more akin to continental Europe than the common law system of the UK, Canada, or the United States, yet there are distinctively Chinese characteristics. Get a good local lawyer before litigation in China - only Chinese nationals working for mainland Chinese law firms may appear in court.Local Bias – Although there are a number of examples of foreign investors prevailing in Chinese courts against state-owned enterprises and other well-connected local parties, results vary drastically with location (big cities being considered among the safest bets for foreigners), and it is often difficult for the foreign party to enforce favorable judgments.Jurisdiction and Forum Shopping- Lower courts in China operate on a regional basis, and the Supreme People’s Court is the court of last resort. Jurisdiction rules must be complied with - a corporate defendant must usually be sued in the jurisdiction where its headquarters are located.ProcedureSome of the key features of the People’s Courts include:lGreat em

3 Tactics To Consider Before Making Money Online
You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours; this is what affiliate marketing is all about. Also known as referral programs, affiliate programs are generally commission based sales in which the affiliate recommends a site to their websites visitors, and, if the visitors make a purchase from the website they earn a percentage of that sale. The merchant benefits from the sale and the affiliate from the commissions.Getting started as an affiliate marketer is quite simple. If you already have a website setup you can begin to look for merchants that offer products relating to your website's theme. If not, you can build one for a product that you would like to promote. Simply find a good host and chose a domain name with keywords that relate to your site’s concept. The information below is aimed toward people who are new to affiliate marketing and are looking for tips to help them find the right affiliate program for them. Are you willing to put in the effort?1. Although you will want a program that offers good commissions, do not be tempted to join a program simply because it offers

How To Grasp Small Business Taxes in the USA
I have collected information here to assist you with the overall requirements by the IRS so that you can plan your business a little better. However, as we all know there will be ammendments to these points raised below from time to time and you would be best to confirm anything you read on this page with the relevant department. You can simply do this by the internet at http://www.irs.gov/ when you think you need to.The first pointy I would like to raise is the type of business you are in - this will determine what taxes you must pay and how you pay them. Here are the four basic types of business taxes.- Income Tax- Self-Employment Tax- Employment Taxes- Excise TaxLet's run through them -1. Your Income TaxJust about all businesses apart from partnerships must file an annual income tax return. You should note here that partnerships file an information return. The form you use to do this depends on how your business is organized. The federal income tax is a pay-as-you-go tax. You must pay the tax as you earn your money or when you receive in
going to use and relate it to the search terms people will use to find you. Don’t go for little search terms such as “Kentallen” but bigger ones such as “Scottishhighlands” More on this in a later piece.

    2. Write and re-write your description of your site many times to make sure it fits the search terms they will use. The description goes into the html code used by the web designer, but the text should go also into the opening paragraph at the top of page one, because this is what Google uses. More about finding the best search terms in a later piece.

    3. The search engines do not see your complete site, they see each page separately. So for the most critical pages in your site – not all of them – you need to get the right url, I mean the small extension at the end of the url which identifies each page and ends in .html such as www.yoursite.co.uk/tariffs.html You also need to get the right description for each separate page just as you do for the opening page.

This might win you the first vote. You have a fleeting instant to do this before they move on to another site or choose another search term. You need them to click on your site because it is high up on the pages they search and the description makes it look good.

Using a directory to list you.

If you are using a directory, such as Assc, then the same issue applies but in a slightly different form. You must, you absolutely must appeal to people with the finest looking photograph on the page they are looking at. This might mean not using a close up photo of your property, but rather to go for the surrounding scenery. We show our little bay. The property is there in the distance – what they want from us is the beauty and the surroundings. They want a memorable holiday.

You might object to this and say they want to see your property, but what is the point of taking a moral stance if they are not going to click on your entry in the directory. You’ve lost them without even trying. Someone who does try hard to present their finest features will win them.

Now we have a click on our site and we are into the 2nd vote when they look at our opening page. They click on many different sites most of which at not at all suitable for their purpose. Now they decide either to move on – in 5 seconds - or to examine our site a little further. Most move on. We can tell from our “bounce” stats on the web analyzer. (Analyzer explained later.). When they see our opening page they must be impressed straight away.

    Questions:

    · Does our opening page present visitors with an instant, wow! reaction? A picture of the property’s front door is not going to do it. I take it all back if you are offering them a castle or a mill, but for most of us the property itself, the building, is not what turns them on.

    · Does the first page draw them into the site? Remember they are looking for a ver
