To Know You Is To Love You - How Relationship Marketing Boosts Small Business Cash Flow
One of the cardinal rules of small business is that people want to do business with people who they know, like, and trust. That desire holds the key to both delight your customers and boost your cash flow by developing and consistently implementing relationship marketing. Your customers get what they want (a solution to their problem) and you get what you want (smoother cash flow).Relationship marketing is all about letting your customers or potential customers get to know you. It’s not about trying to make a sale. The goal with relationship marketing is to communicate to your customer or potential customer that you have a solut

Why Small Businesses Need Both A Logo And An Identity System
Experts urge small business owners to “brand” their business – to use a logo and a set of consistent marketing materials. But, they rarely go into the reasons behind this advice. Here’s a list of some of the benefits to having a professionally designed logo and marketing package:Not to look so small - Home-printed business cards with perforated edges, or cards printed with standard designs available through Microsoft software or online business card vendors (like Vistaprint) scream, “Small-time vendor!” to your potential clients – and you’ll be similarly compensated. To increase your chance of getting venture capital or se
If a link exists, somewhere on the Internet, directing visitors to your site, or to one of your pages - this is a "backlink". It is the opposite of an outgoing link, or a "forward" link, that takes visitors away from your site. We all know about having a link page on our site. These are "forwarding" links. If a site other than your own, had a links page, and there existed a link on it, to your page, that would be a "forward" link for the site owner, and a "backlink" for you.

Why are these links, then, so important? Specifically, if these links contain keywords within the anchor text (the actual text within the hyperlink) - and they link to your site - they are very valuable to your campaign. Hypothetically, let's examine three different links. Suppose these links existed on a web page somewhere online. Hypothetically, we will assume you are "Margie" the owner of the website - www.margiesshop.com. Let's also assume your main product online for sale is woven baskets. So then, let's compare three styles of backlinks, assuming the following examples are the actual backlinks that exist somewhere online. In the examples below, I have bolded the text that would be the anchor text, or "clickable text".

In Advertising Bigger isn't Always Better
If you have been following the recent advertising news you will notice that more and more major advertisers are looking to smaller ad agencies to handle their campaigns. Is it because they feel bad? Is it because they are cheaper? Or is it because they see the level of creative talent of smaller agencies?Lets take a quick look at why this is happening and how this is good for the consumers and the advertisers. When I use the term smaller it doesn’t mean that it’s a one-man show, but that they aren’t part of the  “BIG 6”. Now with that said lets continue, smaller agencies ha

What the Heck is a Blog?
Everybody is talking about blogs. They are everywhere: on the TV, in the newspapers, and all over the internet. With the number of blogs doubling every five months, there is no stopping the power of blogs. But what the heck is a blog? For the elegant simplicity and beauty that blogs create, they certainly have an ugly, ungainly name. Blawg sounds like some kind of gurgling sound your cat makes before coughing up a hairball.A blog, short for weblog, is often described as an online diary. The most recent entries (called posts) - appear on the homepage of the blog with links to archives of older posts. Archives are organized

    Used Clothing Wholesale Business
While I have never wholesaled used clothing, I am aware that there is a very large market for it.Used clothing usually is collected by charities such as your local thrift shop to national organizations such as the Salvation Army. The purpose of their collections is usually to provide homeless and poor people with clothing. But in reality they receive more donations than they can use. And since they have limited amounts of spacer at their disposal they need to get rid of much of the clothing that they receive. So what happens to all the donated used clothing?Much of it ends up in the hands of exporters.rgie brings together baskets for sale from dozens of different countries, all on one site. Webmaster Follies - Ignoring PR0 Directories
When manually submitting links to directories webmasters normally ignore directories which don't present any page rank value. This is because the common presumption is websites with PR0 or low PR value are worthless, don't serve a purpose, and can potentially devalue your website. This is considerably true in most cases, mainly when considering purchasing text links on a site, but directories are a bit different. The differences with directories are they are mainly maintained by webmasters, which ultimately mean they will potentially gain PR value in the future. Directories usually go levels deep and the further down the chain the less

The main thing to notice is the difference between the three styles of links, specifically, the anchor text - the actual text within the hyperlink you click on (shown as bolded, in the above examples). Notice in Ex. 1, the anchor text is the name of the shop. In Ex. 2, the keywords follow "Margie's". In Ex. 3, the keywords are first, in the most prominent position, and they are followed by the site name "Margies Shop".

From an SEO point of view, the third style is most desirable. Some directories do not like to see this "Style" of link - and therefore Ex. 2 would be our best bet. Placing our keywords prominent in a hyperlink, creates an association - that is our keywords are associated to our domain, or .com name. When building backlinks, this is exactly what we want to do! The power of creating this "hyperlink association" is incredible. Perhaps the most famous example, and proof of this power, is the Google search for the term "miserable failure". Try this search and see what happens!

Now that you understand backlinks, here is how to use the various search engines to determine how many you already have, to your site, at this time, and where they exist online.

Use this search style at the Google search box:

    domain.com -site:www.domain.com -site:domain.com

(Use your site name, not "domain.com".)

This searches for pages linking to domain.com, but subtracts the "internal" links - those links that actually exist on domain.com itself, pointing back to itself. An example of an "internal" link would be a link back to your home page, on page two of your website. By stipulating -site:www.domain.com, we effectively subtract all of our own links, from the count, and results. By using both the www.domain.com and domain.com designations, we subtract all possibl
