Everyone Should Have a RED BALL in the Job Search
May I explain what about what a red ball means to me and how I counsel others as a career coach.A RED BALL is a symbol of what you can do and want, especially in a job search. Here are some uses for a RED BALL, especially when you are stuck for ideas and resources to get your next job.1. Play with it! Bounce it! See how high it will go. Be silly with it! (No, this is not intended as a 'feel good' exercise). It is a way to free your imagination for goals and ideas about what you want to do next.2. Carry it with you when you are out and about looking for a job. If you are not afraid of risk, ask others you meet to bounce it! You'll be surprised at how others will react. If some people think you are peculiar and don't want to play with you, you don't want them as RESOURCE PEOPLE who will help you as you explain that the red ball is a symbol of what you are looking for. Engage those folks in conversation, please, who want to play ball with you.3. Keep the ball at home

Are You Winning in the Game of Life? Be an Entrepreneur
The Principle of the Entrepreneur: More than ever in the history of western culture, people are looking for ways to be an agent of change. They are therefore becoming more entrepreneurial, committing to carving out new forms of enterprise, sometimes seeking to launch from the comfort of their own home, sometimes from an outside space. The fundamental reason why so many now wish to do so is a new shift in the collective consciousness of humanity. This shift is guiding more people into lives of purpose, fulfillment, and empowerment than ever before in history. Entrepreneurship, then, is not a goal but rather the means to a goal. And that goal is the concept of purposeful living. Therefore, the dynamic of entrepreneurship has reached an awakened state: it is now being used as a tool to assist people as they go about creating the next level of purposeful living. Entrepreneurship is serving as a bridge, a period of transition, to assist in bringing this energy shift into reality. <

Business Performance Management Demands Uniting Soft Skills with Hard Skills to Achieve Success
From the boardroom to the classroom, individuals are looking to improve their performance. Continuous improvement through processes such as Baldrige to Lean continue to make significant strides in the business world as solutions to improving the bottom line. Self-improvement is one of the fastest growing areas in most book stores. Everyone appears to be looking for that magic pill for how to improve their performance results or what we call success.Recently when doing some research to improve the content of an article, I discovered the term "meritocracy." Even though I am fairly well read in American history, I had never seen this particular term. The original definition of meritocracy is not certain, but has its roots in Chapter Five of John Locke's Second Treatise on Government. Locke believed that the acquisition of wealth provided it was acquired through hard word and "it was to meet one's own immediate needs." (Source: Wikipedia) Meritoracy then became the way to build and

    The Protectionism Delusion
Economists through years of study and practice have concluded that through free trade, based on the principal of comparative advantage, the world economy can achieve a more efficient allocation of resources and a higher level of material well-being. On the other hand, protectionism measures-barriers to free trade-lessen or eliminate gains from specialization. Trying to satisfy diverse wants, nations shift resources from efficient (low cost) to inefficient (high cost) uses. This is the reason why, instead of promoting competition, governments turn up to face monopolies that harm the economy and do not fulfill the consumers' needs.Furthermore, the costs of protectionism are hidden because trade barriers are embedded in the prices of goods. Thus, either due to misunderstandings of the gains of trade or due to political considerations, governments may impose trade barriers, with consequences such as higher prices, which can not be realized by the public at the beginning. No matter how compelling th
