    1) Make sure you have a rock solid purpose. What do you love? What do you hate? What is really important to you? What situation do you want out of and never want to be in again? When you own your own business you have to have discipline and a reason to "go to work" every day, even when you don't feel like it. Your purpose should make you emotional, get you excited, and down right touch your heart. You need a strong enough reason to do this business so that if what you are doing isn't working, you'll find another way. If you are wishy-washy in your purpose, you are setting yourself up for failure. Your purpose is your lifeline. Think of it this way: If you were told you had a life threatening disease and had 24 hours to make it across the country to a clinic for the cure, yet you didn't have a car or a nickel to your name; what would you do to get to that clinic in time? You need the same driving force for doing your business. It will literally save you when times get tough or you are afraid to talk to someone or the phone feel like it weighs 100 pounds. Every one of us will encounter obstacles and the only thing that will separate those that get past them and those that quit is the strength of their purpose.

    2) Remain teachable. The moment you stop learning and growing is the moment your business is going to stop growing and start dying. You cannot expect your team to attend training to grow and learn if you are not setting that example for them. So if you have no other reason to remain teachable, let that be your reason. Lead by example. Believe it or not, the pay-off will be both personal growth and growth within your business.
