Knots are very handy tools, especially when it comes to camping. Knots keep things together and hold things firmly, especially in the case of bad and stormy weather.
But knots are only effective when tied in the proper way. Tied with two hands.
One can mirror a proper knot with one hand, but it can not be pulled tight enough without the use of more than one hand.
And so it is with relationships.
A relationship can not be properly built and nurtured with only one “hand”, one person. In order for a relationship to work with optimal success, there must be frequent and sufficient help and input. There must be honest non-critical and loving feedback on a continual basis.
We are all unique individuals, with singular and unique wants and desires in this life. We spend a lot of time and effort searching for a “right someone” who will not only respect our individuality, but encourage it’s development, as well.
This does not mean that we go through life with an “it’s all about ME” complex. It does mean that we recognize each other’s unique gifts and talents, and encourage each other in the development and expression of those talents as often as possible.
That is how we become better people and better partners in a relationship. We actually bring more value to the table when we become more as a person.
