As a Christian many times I walked along the street and people who I knew to be drunks asked me for money so they could purchase alcohol, I often declined them as I believe God didn’t want me to give them money to buy alcohol. Also I had many drug addicts come up to me, and I thought that God didn’t want me to give money to people who would spend it on drugs. Is it right for a Christian to give drug addicts money if they know they will spend it on heroin, so they can inject it into their arm like ultra strong drink that will help them forget their miserable poverty and painful existence? Is it right for a Christian to give a poor alcoholic man who spends all his money on alcohol some money?
Heroin addicts live in a life of misery and poverty, when they are away from heroin they are living in hell and they ache and feel pain all over. This heroin addict was brought to tears because he could see a Christian loved him, even though the Christian knew he was a drug addict and would spend the money on heroin, he was brought to tears by the act of unconditional love and compassion that he experienced. Whether you agree with this or not, the simple message is that this demonstrates that Jesus cares for everyone, and he wants to see people healed from their pain and agony. Jesus shows no partiality on people, and Jesus himself said in the gospel to give to ALL those who ask, and that includes heroin addicts and drunks.

The Heroin addicts are in absolute misery and poverty, they are human beings and they are not animals and second class citizens. Most Christians treat addicts like they are animals and do not give them money when they ask them, because they treat the addicts with partiality and use the excuse that they will use it on drugs. But God’s word specifically tells us to give strong drink to the suffering, so they can forget their poverty and misery. If every Christian gave money to a heroin addict who asked and said to the addict, “Here is $20 and I know you will use it on drugs, but that’s ok, I just want to let you know that Jesus loves you and he knows your in pain, Jesus does not like seeing you in pain. Just remember that Jesus Christ can give you the bread that came down from heaven that will make you pass from death to life, He can give you the living water from His spirit so you will never get thirsty for heroin again. Jesus told me to give you this money to show you that he loves you and he cares about you’re; suffering, pain, afflictions, agony, hurts and loneliness.
