I sincerely hope most of the parole officers do care about their charges. Apparently some do not care about the community. They certainly do not care about the children in that community.
I am not a large fan of the parole system in Florida being run by private companies. The companies are only interested in collecting money from the parolees. Before it became privatized, the parole system in Florida use to try and help parolees rejoin society. Now, in the cases I have heard, the lesser the crime, the harsher the judgement.
I know of one father who is being sent back to prison for taking a hit off a joint. He works, pays taxes and supports his family. He went and told his Parole Officer what he did and asked to be sent to drug counseling. The law says he should be going to drug counseling. He is going back to prison instead because his Parole Officer revoked his parole. His Parole Officer wants him in prison. He is a dangerous criminal and should be off the streets because he took a hit off a joint.
What is wrong with this picture? Are we becoming a society that just does not give a damn any more? Yes, even sex offenders have a right to live in a free society. They just do not have a right to live near children. By the parole system allowing this to occur, the parole system is setting the scene for another child to be molested, or worse.
