While Pelosi wrote a letter to Jefferson, asking him to resign his seat from the House Ways and Means Committee, she is chastising the raid that put Jefferson in that position to begin with. Not only that, but Pelosi is making a political move, considering that Democrats have tried to paint Washington as a Republican culture of corruption. When someone in their own party feels the heat, the Democrats seem to not care.

The political power play, however, is ongoing on both sides. With the House elections getting closer by the day, there is no doubt that loyalty means nothing. Worse off, the voice of the American voter--which should be the most important thing to those who are in office--isn’t worth anything. That could, however, be the final straw in the long line of hypocrisy that has plagued the nation’s capital.
