To understand how to write good articles, you first have to understand what makes a bad article. The reason is simple. If you can’t recognize a bad article from a good article, writing a good article is going to be that more difficult. There are plenty of bad articles. Many article directories are littered with them; pieces of junk that never get viewed by anybody and never bring any traffic to a person’s web site. Why? Let me lay out 7 reasons why this is so.

    1) Titles

Your articles have lousy titles. Just reading the title alone will make somebody want to go to sleep. At the very least they certainly won’t bother to check out the content of the article itself. What exactly are lousy titles? Oh, things like “My Guide To Video Games.” Yeah, that’s REALLY going to get the blood flowing and make somebody want to read it.

    2) Flow

Your articles don’t flow. They’re all over the place. They start off by talking about one thing and then suddenly they’re talking about something else. The reader has no idea where the article is going and soon becomes bored and never gets to the end of the article, which is where they MUST reach if you’ve accomplished what you’ve set out to do.

    3) Information

Your articles give away too much. That’s right. There is such a thing as telling your reader way too much. Think about it. The purpose of the article is to get the reader to your site. Well, if you’ve told him everything he needs to know in the article, there is no reason for him to go to your site. Make sense?

    5) Quality

Your articles are just plain bad. Article directories have requirements. Unfortunately, some of them have a very loose requirement, which actually hurts you in the long run. They allow just about anything in and ultimately many of the articles that are accepted don’t get read.

    6) Length

This comes down to the rules of the game of writing content that search engines will recognize. It’s the cost of doing business. You can’t get away with writing a couple hundred words and calling it an article. Most search engines want a quality article to be between 500 and 2500 words. In other words they can’t be too short or too long. Since we want our articles to be as short as possible so we can crank out more content faster, we’re going to focus this book on writing 500 word articles. If you want to write longer ones, just apply the same principals and expand them.

    7) Keywords

In this case, either you don’t have enough of them in your article to make the article relevant, or you have so many that the search engines view them as “auto created”, which is something that many software manufacturers peddle as killer content creation. All it’s going to get you is a lot of rejected articles.
