Story ideas are everywhere. I asked my brother's advice before purchasing a range or stove, for example. His suggestion was to visit a consumer report website.

Ralph gets Marsh's telephone number without her assistance.

    Throw in conflict.

    "It's him." Marsh stood frozen.

"Marsh, you told him where you live?"

"Of course not. I didn't give him my telephone number either."

"Why would he?" Jenny sat back down.

Story people are required to keep the readers' attention until the end. How?

Keep suspense happening on practically every page. Place a minimum of three obstacles in the characters path.

The first stumbling block was Jenny's doubt that anyone was outside of Marsh's kitchen window. A second one surfaced when Marsh had dinner at Jenny's. Tom's, Jenny's husband, voice reminded her of Ralph's. The third issue happened when she saw Tom come out of her house. He pretended to knock.

"Why are you doing this?" Marsh blurted.

"Doin' what?" He back-stepped to his house.

Later that evening, Marsh confronted Jenny, and explained Ralph is Tom. Jenny kicked Marsh out of her house.
