The musicians ranging in age from early teens to late 80's, often three or four generations playing in the same group. Several bandas from different villages share their love of music during the summer f?tes, often sharing instruments and playing with each others' groups.

The onset of winter sees the opening of the ski resorts and winter sports and even a two week winter break in February to permit families to share these experiences together. However, do not go away with the idea that all is play, play, play. Indeed, through the whole school year children from 11 years onwards are picked up by coaches to go to school by 07:30 and do not return from school until well after 06:00 and even then they often return with homework and revision. Likewise parents making an early start to the day often do not return until late.
